Design Features - 316/316L Stainless Steel . Type 316 is more resistant to atmospheric and other mild environments than Type 304. it is resistant to dilute solutions (i.e. 1-5%) of sulfuric acid up to 120°F. However, in certain oxidizing acids, Type 316 is less resistant than Type 304. 316 is susceptible to carbide precipitation when exposed in the temperature range of 800° - 1500°F and
Alloy 316/316L Austenitic Stainless Steel Plate Alloy 316/316L (UNS S31600/S31603) is a chromium-nickelmolybdenum austenitic stainless steel developed to provide improved corrosion resistance to Alloy 304/304L in moderately corrosive environments. It is often utilized in process streams containing chlorides or halides.

Mechanical properties of Austenitic Stainless Steel 304L Jan 01, 2016 · In this work, two grades of Austenitic Stainless Steel are investigated, namely ASS 304L and ASS 316L. Their composition is given in Table 1.To extract the experimental data and to predict the mechanical properties, the tensile tests are conducted at three different strain rates (0.0001, 0.001 and 0.01 s 1) and temperatures ranging from 50 °C to 650 °C at an interval of 50 °C.
Stainless Steel - Austenitic - 1.4404 (316L) Bar and SectionStainless steel types 1.4401 and 1.4404 are also known as grades 316 and 316L respectively. Grade 316 is an austenitic grade second only to 304 in commercial importance. 316 stainless steel contains an addition of molybdenum that gives it improved corrosion resistance.

Grade 316L, the low carbon version of 316 and is immune from sensitisation (grain boundary carbide precipitation). T316L Stainless Steel Technical Data Sheet - metal shimsTypes 316 and 316L generally contain 2 to 3% molybdenum for improved corrosion resistance. In addition to excellent corrosion resistance and strength properties, Types 316 and 316L alloys also provide the excellent fabricability and formability which are typical of the austenitic stainless steels.
Stainless Steel Type 316/316L Tempered & Specialty MetalsType 316L can be dual certified as 316 when the composition meets the lower carbon limit of 316L and the slightly higher strength levels of 316. Type 316L should be specified for welded applications as the low carbon version eliminates chromium carbide precipitation and enhances the corrosion resistance in the as-welded condition.

Strength and ductility of 316L austenitic stainless steel Feb 01, 2012 · Chen et al. produced a nanostructured 316L steel by using SMAT with a yield strength as high as 1450 MPa, but its work-hardening diminishes and elongation-to-failure drops to only 3%. In fact, the plastic straining induced ductility loss is more pronounced than the strength gain for the austenitic stainless steels, exhibiting a typical Stainless 316, 316L, 317, 317L - United Performance MetalsThese alloys also offer higher creep, stress-to-rupture and tensile strength at elevated temperature.
